About

Rayhan Asat is an internationally recognized human rights lawyer, international law scholar, and advocate of Uyghur heritage. She works closely with civil society, diplomats, lawmakers, and businesses to address human rights concerns, especially the atrocities in Xinjiang.

Rayhan’s advocacy has been featured in prominent publications such as the New York Times, BBC, CNN, Vox News, Christian Amanpour, Harvard Magazine, the Yale Globalist, the Yale Politic, and more. She has written for prominent publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the Guardian, Foreign Policy, NBC, The Hill, and more. In October 2022, Rayhan was honored in the Vox News’ inaugural FuturePerfect50, a list of 50 visionary agents of change who are changing the world into a better place for everyone.

Rayhan is a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council. Previously, she was a Tom & Andi Bernstein Fellow at Yale Law School and a visiting fellow at Harvard Law School. She is currently working on her doctorate at Harvard Law School examining the rise of authoritarian international law and its impact on the global order.
